Under the Energy Efficient Homes Package the Australian Government is providing assistance of up to $1000 to landlords and tenants for the installation of new ceiling insulation in existing rental and other properties.

Property owners can apply for assistance for each dwelling they own, whether it is permanently let for is used for holiday letting.  The assistance offered by the Low Emission Assistance Plan for Renters is targeted at the installation of ceiling insulation in these homes.

Ceiling insulation offers warmth in winter and not so much heat in summer, but on top of that there is also the reduced cost in electricity and deterioration of property.

The benefits are:

·        Up to 12° cooler in summer

·        Save 40% on heating bills in winter

·        Saves energy and saves money

Home owner/occupiers are entitled to $1600 insulation rebate to help cover the costs of installing ceiling insulation.  There are some eligibility criteria, so check it out.
