Pest Control In Rental Properties

August 22, 2010 | admin | Comments 0

A situation has come to my notice that I believe is worth sharing and that is the use by some landlords or property managers of unlicensed pest management technicians(PMT) for pest control.

What has been happening in some instances is that carpet cleaners and other property cleaners have offered pest control services in rental properties.  When these services have been used it has not always been with the correct pest control procedures in place regarding care and health safety precautions.  This could be from the use of incorrect products to the care around the property.

What a landlord needs to be aware of is that a licensed PMT is required to supply a list of all products that have been used during any pest control work.

There have been instances where insufficient care and safety precautions have been taken during the pest control and tenants have been affected.  If a licensed PMT person is used then the proper report can be issued should there be any occurences resulting from a pest control procedure.
