Wet Weather Means Property Damage and Repairs

June 11, 2013 | admin | Comments 0

Property Damage and RepairsThis year we have seen some extraordinary wet weather following some very hot weather and the combination = property damage.

Property Damage Repairs

Many older properties have areas that are susceptible to damage due to the fact that the paintwork may be poor, gutters may be in need of repair or pipes may be blocked.

We haven’t seen the end of this wet weather so property investors should ensure that their property managers are doing property inspections that are specifically looking for any sort of property damage.

Outdoor steps and pathways should also be inspected for wood rot and mould growth so that they are not slippery, causing an accident for your tenants.

Apart from the house itself, there are retainer walls, fences and other outdoor areas that could need an inspection as well.

It is a lot cheaper to repair and maintain than replace.

Upgrade Inside At The Same Time

If you are doing work at the property it is cheaper to get several jobs done at once, so if you have a builder, plumber or handyman there, is there anything else that needs touching up like new taps or flooring?

Winter Garden Trim

As growth has stopped in the garden during the colder weather it is a time when those trees can be cut back and taken off to the dump.

End Of Financial Year

With just three weeks left before the end of the financial year if you have repairs to be done then you will be able to claim in this year’s tax if you get the work done asap.
