What is a Real Estate Investor?

Most probably, you!

If you invest in Real Estate, whether it be through Residential or Commercial Property then you’re a Real Estate Investor. The exception is if you buy the home to live in for a lengthy period, in this circumstance you are an Owner Occupier.

Real estate investors rent out their properties either to cover their ongoing costs or to ‘negative gear’ and reduce their tax implications. Some even find cash flow positive properties that even pay for the property.

Depending on each investor’s circumstances and what they are looking to achieve would depend on the strategy that they take to suit their requirements. There are so many factors to consider but to start off with you have to consider time frames; are you looking long term, ie. 5 to 15 years or short term 0 to 2 years.

Some investors buy property, renovate, sell and then move on to the next property. They might not even consider renting the property as they use a quick turnaround strategy.

Savvy Real Estate Investors think ‘outside of the box’, are quick to see opportunities, and – as Real Estate is their wealth making industry – research property on a regular basis.
