Renovation tips to consider when planning change

We have talked about renovations and how they can improve your property return, but also give consideration to the sale of the property at a
later date.
There are many things to consider when renovating and here I will list some eco friendly ideas that may be very relevant for your situation:
- Give consideration to maximising light – do you need to put in a sky light or a window to give better light and ventilation
- Do you need to knock out a wall to make a better air flow through the house, it will also have the effect of making the rooms seem bigger
- Are the windows and doors large enough to allow a good air flow through the house
- What about putting in a rainwater tank if the house is older and could do with one
- Get rid of old timber and brick work and replace them with products that are more sustainable
- Put in a low maintenance garden
- Check the pathways and driveways and select your products carefully if they need replacing
- Use flooring that does not collect dust, e.g. carpets harbour so much dust and dust mites and give off killer toxins
- Select window coverings that can be cleaned – tenants don’t like to clean heavy curtains for fear of damaging them and then being charged for the damage
